50 Pills
I really dont have too much to say about this film. Hey that is why its in the "Films with Nothing to Say" category. Basically its about a college student in NYC who loses his scholarship because of his wild party throwing roommate. As a result, this kid has to sell 50 pills of ecstacy to make the money to pay for school. And then encounters with wacky characters ensue.
The movie stars Lou Taylor Pucci who was also the lead in Thumbsucker- which was a much better, more entertaining and innovative film. He is a pretty decent actor, I think he just needs to take better scripts.
Here is the thing- Having a film about selling "E" isn't necessarily going to make it a cult film or highly popular with the cool kids. It has to actually be a good movie, guys! You cant just proclaim your movie to be a cult hit because its about drugs.
The most entertaining thing about this movie was actually the performance by John Hensley as the "bad influence" roommate Coleman. How old is this guy? He has been playing the part of a 21 year old for over 10 years now. He was playing a young adult on the short-lived TV show Witchblade (which is good if you ever get a chance to check it out. I know it sounds lame from the title, but it was a good show!) and looked like he was 25 or so back in 2001. Then probably in 2003, he began playing a young teen on the TV show "Nip Tuck." Now he is playing a freshman college student. What? Is John Hensley one of the immortals or something? Or maybe he will be heading to work one day to play play another part of a youngster when he takes a look in the mirror and all of a sudden looks like Nosferatu because time has caught up with him? Who knows.
Anyway this movie was full of cliches and about as boring as a film about druggie kids can be. It seems like it was straight out of the mind of a total rich kid fraternity boy turned director. But it featured looks of scenery from NYC and likely that is why it was a Tribeca Film. Whatever, Skip this I say. It is supposed to be a comedy, but I dont think I even cracked a smile.
