Projekt67 is the music-project of Simon van Weelden ('67) and Erna Berendsen ('75).
Simon and Erna make music together since 1999 and make music in the studio as well as live. According to a review by a Dutch music-critic “Projekt67 creates an atmosphere which evokes images: great plains, breathtaking skies, underwater worlds”. He said this about “You give me music”, the second CD of Projekt67 which was released oct 2007. The music of Projek67 is maybe best described as dreamy, cinematic. Simon plays music as if he's painting, he starts with just one tone, and then, slowly, the music opens up to the listener, like a landscape unfolding. Erna complements the music of Projekt67 with her frail and clear ringing voice.
When the band performs live, sometimes just Erna and Simon, sometimes together with other musicians, it's an intimate happening. Recorded music of Projekt67 has been used by filmmakers and for DVD's instructing professionals.
Simon van Weelden ('67) Director of the video “Dead People's Music”
Simon was born in Zaltbommel (the Netherlands). Drawing was his first love. While drawing a second nature, Simon also started making his own music. He got his first real guitar when he was twelve, taught himself how to play and never stopped playing.
Simon successively finished an education for electrician, the advertising-school and finally the academy of arts "Minerva" in Groningen, the Netherlands, in 1995. His work, whether it is visual or audio, has more to do with atmosphere than with a literal issue.
The video “Dead People's Music” arose after he spoke with Erna about her lyrics of the same song. For this flash video-clip, Simon used only pictures, no video fragments. Simon currently works as a musician, video-artist, graphic designer and webdesigner. He and Erna got married in 2007 and live in Groningen, the Netherlands.
