Director Statement

The video, just as the music, are both built on complex beats that evolve and break in a very organic yet precise way. The video’s editing also compliments this style, cutting rapidly during fast action sequences, and letting the eye rest just enough before the next outburst of chaotic events.

The transitions between different locations and time periods are blended sometimes through a special cut and sometimes through motion. These help carry the viewer’s eye into a whole new scene, while still maintaining a sense of continuity of mood and consistency from the previous one.

The story and art of this video bring together a fantasy world with realistic everyday motifs, some of which are quite unorthodox for today’s common animation world (– a little girl peeing in the street, or a sardine that leaps out of the sardine can as it opens, only to be cut in half and its blood smeared as lipstick.)
The heroine of the story – a little girl with a giant toad as her pet and best friend goes through fast – paced adventures and conflicts. Once the action starts, the adrenaline is pumping and soon enough the ride goes out of control.

The music video utilizes 128 shots in 03:26 minutes, and although it is an independent production, it follows the same production principles used in today’s major CG studios.

About Eatliz band

*View Eatliz Attractive video

“… a critical mass of talent that is bound to burst/explode overseas. It is highly recommended to absorb it, as long as it’s still here.”
(Yoav Bril “Time-Out Tel Aviv”)

Eatliz first appeared in the Israeli indie scene in September 2002 and has been playing a significant role in it ever since. Eatliz is the second musical project initiated by Guy Ben-Shitrit, guitarist and main writer for the cult act Infectzia, whose humorous yet clever lyrics and unique blend of different styles gained a strong hold among an ever-growing crowd of Israeli teenagers.

The songs Ben-Shitrit writes for Eatliz are in English and aim at a more mature audience. His complex compositions and arrangements move between various musical arenas in a way which seems nearly impossible. Different songs feature influences of hard-rock, surf, punk, goth, power-pop and other genres; at times several of these turn up in a single song (!). As such a wide variety is hard to categorize, the band members will usually describe their music as “complicated pop”.

The Eatliz ensemble joins together some of the best musicians in the local scene:
• Guy Ben Shitrit – guitars
• Or Bahir – guitars
• Hadar Green - bass
• Omri Hanegbi – drums
• Amit Erez – guitars
• Lee Triffon – lead vocals

All of them are active members in various renowned acts, each bringing his (or her) unique style and approach to the music. This combination makes Eatliz a band like no other.
