Urban Nature is an atmospheric audio-visual collage accomplished
by visually dramatic movements and atmospheric sounds.
Urban Nature observes public behavior in a post-modern urban environment. The individual almost becomes non-existent, whilst surveillance is part of a new social infrastructure. A ’sophistication of modern living’ becomes apparent, by use of images that appear as frozen moments in time.
Biography of Olga Mink (NL)

Olga Mink is a Dutch media-artist and filmmaker working in the fields of digital
media, video performance and interactive art. Mink explores new possibilities in
digital representation. With a strong emphasis to conceptual approaches, her
work crosses the boundaries between music, art, poetry, nature, public spaces
and engaged themes. Creating immersive and physical representations in digital
media, she is interested in the relation between [intangible] media and the
spatiotemporal coherence.
The Multi-screen installation Ballet Mechanique explored the idea of physicality
in the virtual (projected) environment. By re-arranging and composing
sequences of the body into new forms, a new experience of time and space was
being created. By use of rectangular screens and a threedimensional projection
set-up, a sophisticated visual surrounding was accomplished.
Experimentations within media, technology and digital environments has lead to
innovative projects. In 2003, she was commisioned to develope a permanent
interactive video-installation for a new building. This work has been developed
in collaboration with the architects, and is fully integrated with the architectural
aesthetics of the building. Video-matic explores the networked media in a
public environment, by use of interactivity with a touchscreen inside the
building and an online application on the dedicated website video-matic.nl.
Visual performances have developed in style and content, over the years. Mixing
a narrative to live image manipulation, using processed video and rhythmic
sequences to mix them into an ambient cinematic style. The use of customised
projection possibilities is another important aspect in her live performance.
Work has been released internationally on NoTV, Bip-Hop, Steamingsounds and
Lightrhythmvisuals. Festivals include Lowlands, Big Chill(UK),
ClubTransmediale(GER), AVITUK, Impakt, International filmfestival, Mapping, etc.
Currently a project called The nature of being is in development in collaboration
with Scanner. It's an audiovisual interchange between artists charting a
conversational movement of colour, music, texture and image. It is a travelogue
of invention, taking the romance of the cosmos through a metaphysical
adventure, presented in a multi-screen environment.
Working as a curator, Minks’ aim is to invite artists that work in these extended
fields. Recent events that were curaand Plazaplus at Plaza Futura.
