Paycheck
Here Is What You Need To Know:
The good people in Hollywood have turned to Philip K. Dick once again for a story idea. This time its Paycheck, a story written before most of us were born and simply updated. That's real exciting. Ben “How the Hell Did This Guy Become A Star” Affleck stars as an engineer named Michael Jennings who was hired to reverse engineer something and now he has a hole in his memory. We sure see this a lot in science-fiction, the guy with the swiss-cheese mind, don't we. Where does this all end up, well, without ruining your time, Jennings gets to see the future.
What Was Cool:
-Some of the visual effects and sets are nice
-If you are into gigantic chicks then this film has Uma Thurman in it. Thurman is okay in Paycheck but she's a little stiff.
-Giving John Woo a pay check to direct Paycheck was pretty cool. His style helped make this a less boring film, but its not his best work. I suspect he just showed up for the—paycheck.
What Was Stupid:
-Casting Ben Affleck was stupid.
-Not really marketing this as a science-fiction films was stupid. What a bunch of wimps.
The Film's Real Genius or Geniuses:
The various visual effects supervisors are the geniuses yet again.
Overlooked Performance/Accomplishment:
The labor of all the visual effects artists was overlooked with Paycheck as the visual effects are the most interesting aspect of the entire film.
