Until her late thirties, Catherine would never have described herself as an "artist". She had never taken an art class, or painted a picture, which she considered to be the minimum requirements for such a title. Her artistic unfolding began as an"accident" in 1993 while searching for a way to relieve stress from a demanding career as a college administrator.
Taking the advice she had given others as a career counselor, she pondered what she loved to do naturally as a child. Remembering the collage she had made when she was ten, she ripped up a pile of old catalogues, and created her first collage in 25 years. After several years of creating child-like collages just for the thrill of it, Catherine finally took her first art class, and realized that collage was much more than a hobby, and envisioned a future where she could pursue her passion as a vocation.
In 2001, Catherine began selling her work and now exhibits in many galleries and juried competitions across the Southeast.
