Director Biography
Virgilio Villoresi was born in Fiesole (near Florence) on November 10th 1979. In 2005, together with Vivì Ponti, he created the animation short movie "Frigidaire", a small masterpiece of one-stop motion collage which reminds of the works of Harry Smith, Han Lenica and Lawrence Jordan. The short movie is scouted by American distributor Microcinema International and distributed as a DVD. In 2006 he directs his first music video, with Giuseppe Chiesa, for Neapolitan artist Etre: "Search and destroy white calligraphy" mixes his passion for analogue-derived, abstract cinema and stop motion animation. In 2007 he creates the stop-motion decoupage music video "Breathes the best" for artist Populous (influenced by Mideuropean and Canadian Sixties and Seventies animations) and “Real Mess” for Hot Gossip, a mix of traditional collage-decoupage animation and Rotoscope, halfway between Bauhaus, R. Breer and Jan Lenica. His latest music videos are "The rain" (with Erica il Cane) for Lamb’s vocalist Lou Rhodes, made with puppets animation and traditional drawing techniques, and "Giorno di maggio" created with Mateo Rivano to accompany Ether's electronic music.
