Fantastic Four-Rise of the Butth*le Surfer
What is with these guys? Seriously don’t you ever wonder what these meetings are like in Hollywood? Not the ones with between studio executives and their drug dealers, but the ones where “business” takes place? You must wonder, I know I do. What were the meetings like on a film like Rise of the Silver Surfer?
“Wow, a Don (the highly appropriately named writer of Fantastic Four Don Payne) this is really all over the place, I mean…”
“Hey! I am the creative, here okay; I don’t try and tell you how to spend money do I? Look-little kids and comic book idiots go and see this crap, not real people.”
“Fine, but Don, I don’t know how to say it, but did you even try, I mean nothing in the film is really explained or developed, there is no real motivation for any of the characters…”
“Are you criticizing my work? You don’t understand today’s audience, I do. They want their entertainment loud, exploding, shiny and stupid. These people are stupid.”
Perhaps you might think I am being too hard on old Don here. But, isn’t this what his work is essentially telling us? I could be wrong, sure its just my opinion, but it’s a little scary to think that Mr. Payne is really trying, or that any of the major parties involved are trying, because that would mean they were total idiots. No, it is much more likely that they just don’t care about their work and are simply grabbing a check with as little effort as humanely possible.
