Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me-A Fat Bastard, What Else Do You Want?

Saying that the second installment of the Austin Powers franchise did better than the first is a remarkable understatement as Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me pulled in nearly double the amount made by the first film, a eye-popping $280-$300 million globally. Those are massive numbers that attest to the appeal of the Austin Powers character worldwide. With Austin Powers, creator Mike Myers developed characters and a comedic universe that audiences just simply love.

This time around Austin Powers tackles the issue of time-travel as Austin is sent back to the 1960's where he must retrieve his mojo stolen by Dr. Evil. The supporting cast of Heather Graham and Rob Lowe do a fantastic job, and Myers really steps up to the plate with the addition of Fat Bastard to his bag of characters. Further the introduction of Mini-Me, a small scale clone of Dr. Evil and Mini-Me's interaction with Fat Bastard resulted in some of the loudest laughs I had ever heard in a theater, period.

All the elements that made the first film a riot are back again. The bits between Dr. Evil and his not so evil son Scott, much like the Fat Bastard and Mini-Me scenes absolutely killed the audience when I saw the film. If you can't smirk at a film, whose leading lady is named Felicity Shagwell, then just shut up and finish your wine and cheese and get your plane ticket for France to hang out with the rest of the misunderstood, victimized posers.

(At roughly $280-$300 million box-office Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, surprised many in the industry, but originality and humor of the first film ensured a loyal fan base and results.)
