The 40 Year Old Virgin

Just finished watching The 40-Year Old Virgin. Hmmmmm.

I liked it overall, I will say that much. It is a story of, well, a 40-year \ old virgin, obviously. Once his buddies at work find out he is "inexperienced" they take it upon themselves to educate him and "get him some" and thus the hilarity ensues. Cute, simple and to the point. Sure it was predictable and was a lot slower than it needed to be, but it was likable. Until....

Ok, I will try to explain this without spoiling it (because the plot lines are very complex and important - sarcasm) but the ending SUCKED! It all wraps up, happy, happy, love, love. Then, it was like the director or the actors or some drunk guy who stumbled onto the set and took charge for a day suddenly thought, "Hey! Let's make it a musical!" It took a decent, cute movie and crapped all over it. It wasn't even funny. It made no sense whatsoever. It had nothing to do with anything the rest of the movie had done or said and just ended up making me think, "What the heck was that?! Did I change the channel or something?"

So, though I liked the movie and would recommend it to people, be warned the ending is awful. Ok, you are now warned. I would give 40-Year Old Virgin an overall grade of C-.

40-Year Old Virgin gets a grade breakdown as follows:

Story: B. Ok but not great...til the end.

Acting: B. Not amazing but simple and good.

Visuals: B. Can't really judge. Well, except for the waxing scene, that
was just WRONG!

Originality/Innovation: C. Nothing unique. I think Cliff from Cheers was
probably a 40-year old virgin as well.

Enjoyability grade: B to start. D- at the end.

Overall grade: C-. Decent but the ending is awful...did I mention that yet?
