“Friends with Money ”
The answer to most people’s troubles is money. Whenever someone is in a situation that they cannot control or change, they wish for money like it is the cure to all problems. In the film, “Friends with Money” that idea about money being the answer and cure for all is challenged and proven to be as fake as Hollywood.
“Friends with Money” is a film about three women who are all married and they have a single friend who they are constantly trying to hook up. The women all think that she is just a poor girl who just hasn’t tried to find the right one. While all of them feel the same way about her not being in a relationship, they all have differing opinions about each other’s relationships.
One couple thinks that one of the other couple's relationship is doomed because the husband is gay. Another couple thinks that one of the couples is doomed because the wife is angry and depressed. When they all get together they have nothing but nice things to say to each other and then the minute they leave they start criticizing everyone but himself or herself. This is reality right. Everyone thinks that his or her relationship is perfect, but everyone else thinks something differently.
“Friends with Money” is a realistic approach to what your average couple and group of friend’s looks like. Whether they live in Hollywood or not, there are people with money everywhere, and they are not always more happy then the average person. These people face similar problems and conflicts and all the money in the world cannot change their outcomes.
The all-star cast in “Friends with Money” makes the film. It stars, Catherine Keener, Joan Cusack, Frances McDormand and Jennifer Aniston. The shocking performance of this film comes from Jennifer Aniston. Her Character, Olivia is so opposite of what she has been playing for a while. Not since “The Good Girl” have we seen such a great performance from Aniston. Keener, Cusack and McDormand are all convincing, and they work great as an ensemble.
“Friends with Money” is a great film because it is more realistic than not. The characters were cleverly written and executed. This film should not be missed especially if you prefer realistic romances to ones with fairytale endings.
