An artistic statement about the work

Pollinator is a short 3D animation exploring universal themes of rejuvenation, symbiosis, significance, conception and mortality. It adapts Buddhist concepts to give the audience a privileged experience of a mythic event. Based in a silent world of mist and rock, Pollinator evocatively plays with scale and atmosphere, offering an exotic and immersive cinematic experience. The film has been completed as a 3rd year undergraduate major project. The main software used to create Pollinator include: Maya, Photoshop, Shake, After Effects, Pro Tools.

 

Director Biography:

 

The sole creator of this film Adrian Watkins began his career in music after graduating with honours from Melbourne University. After almost ten successful years in the industry he chose to broaden his skills by going back to study digital art and animation. Pollintor, a major project completed in his final year of study at RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) delivers his premier work as both animator and composer. Adrian’s persistence, enthusiasm and natural talent in his music career has lead him to work with many high profile artists both here and internationally. With his attentions now focused on the art of animation, having already set standards high, Adrian plans to continue learning and improving his animation skills to create worlds even more spectacular and unique than that presented in Pollinator.
