Synopsis:
It's a beautiful day in a local neighbourhood made up of freshly painted houses and colourful vehicles with fantastical lights. The birds are chirping and life seems great. A typical family of Mom, Dad and two young children alongside a baby are introduced. Life really is wonderful in this neighbourhood until we look through the neighbour's window. And then, Mike Bochoff's song starts us in with 'the neighbour likes to beat his wife' and we realize that not everything is perfect and certainly nothing is fine. Life is a nightmare for one woman and her children as her husband is beating her every chance he gets.
Luckily, Mike's song makes us realize that while this abuse occurs love really is the answer. 'I've got you and you've got me' shows us that together we can stand for something and speak out about this issue that effects the whole family and neighbourhood. The underlying myth in the community is that as long as closed doors are involved no one gets hurt. But we all hurt everyday that domestic violence continues. Together we can stand up and be grateful for each other and speak out about this problem.
