Synopsis:

A WOMAN, lying on a large hotel bed, is looking at a LADYBIRD trying to climb out of a glass of water on the bedside table.The helpless ladybird keeps sliding back down into the water, unable to make her journey out to freedom.

Two 8-year-old GIRLS are saying goodbye to one another as one of them is moving to Australia the next day. The girl who’ll stay behind is sad at the thought she might never see her best friend again…so she runs away.

We become aware the woman in the hotel room is not alone, there is another woman lying next to her. As they talk we discover one of them lives in Australia and the other is planning to join her…but before they can elope she needs to tell somebody…so she leaves.

The girl has caught up with her friend, who is still upset. She reassures her they’ll still be able to see one another and gives her a box with all her money saved for her ticket to Australia to visit…her little friend gives her the money back, knowing full well her dad is never going to let her go.

How are the two stories linked? What’s going to happen to the two sets of friends? Who is who and who is going with whom?

Ilaria D’Elia is a writer/director with a slate of original projects in various stages of development.

Her TV series ‘Dragon Ladies' has been optioned and is being developed by Lime Pictures (All3 Media) in the UK.

Her screenplay 'Lily and Her Sisters' has just been nominated for a David Lean Award.

‘Another Thing’ is her second feature short and the first in the UK to use the new digital RED technology (www.red.com).

She is developing her feature 'Golgotha Heights' which she hopes to direct in the near future.

Ilaria has an MA in Film Screenwriting from RHUL (Skillset accredited) and has completed the Feature Film Workshop at National Film and Television School.

She took part in the New Writers scheme at the Royal Court Theatre as well as attended various short courses at the Script Factory.
