The making of this film has taken quite some time due to litigation and the coming of minds from the comic book source materials of The Avengers (first published 1963) and Captain America (first published 1941) respectively by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (co-created with Joe Simon). Working with a story written by Zak Penn and screenwriter/director Joss Whedon, The Avengers is the most spectacular summer opening film in quite some time.

Marvel Studios presents "Marvel's The Avengers" -- the Super Hero team-up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man/Tony Stark, The Incredible Hulk/Dr. Bruce Banner, Thor, Captain America/Steve Rogers, Hawkeye/Clint Barton and Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson as listed in order above. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Despite pulling together the ultimate dream team, Nick Fury and longtime confidant Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) must find a way to convince the Super Heroes to work together and not against each other in order to save the world (specifically New York City).

The evil-doer in this fast pace 'popcorn flick' is Loki (Thor's adopted brother) played by Tom Hiddleston who has stolen a cosmic cube known as the Tesserac Cube. He brainwashes American science professor Erik Selvig and enslaves him in process of producing the super destructive weapon. However, the non-stop action and adventure in the cinematic journey the has the fun to encounter. As the crisp pacing kept me glued to the screen, the stimulating plot never showed a stale moment. As ample as the talent is shown on screen, the presence of each character is equally exciting to watch. Perhaps, the only thing I found ridiculous is watching Gwyneth Paltrow prance around in Dixie Duke shorts as Pepper Potts (Iron Man/Tony Starks girlfriend).

I find The Avengers to be a 'WOW' flick. This high energy, big-budget movie is filled physical stunts and chases with rescues, battles, fights, destructive crises(floods, explosions, natural disasters, fires, etc.), non-stop motion, spectacular rhythm and pacing, and adventurous, often two-dimensional 'good-guy' heroes/heroine battling 'bad-guys' and monstrous aliens.

I wish not to be a spoiler, but do not leave the theater until the final credits thoroughly run off the screen. The Avengers is without a doubt, the perfect movie to kick-off the summer film blast!
