This year's film lineup is sharp and thought provoking, running from May 30th - June 8th. It touches upon the hottest international and domestic topics with a cosmopitan spirit. Yet, it delivers lots of intimate portraits in which anybody can identify. While the festival is instrumental in successfully connecting filmmakers with audiences, media, and industry the Brooklyn International Film Festival proudly presents 120 films divided into 73 film programs. These films were selected from 2100 submissions from 96 countries.

OPENING NIGHT, MAY 30TH

" ABLE DANGER MOVIE REVIEW"

Director: Paul Krik
Release date: U.S. 2008 Feature (Premiere)
Running time: 85 minutes
Format: HD-Cam

Plot Summary:
Thomas Flynn (Adam Nee), the idealistic owner of a left-learning radical cafe-bookstore called VOX POP and the quixotic publisher of a hard hitting 9/11 conspiracy expose, finds himself entangled with a mysterious Eastern European beauty named Kasia (Elina Lowensohn), who is on the run from the architects of a global 9/11 cover-up. In this contemporary take on classic film noir, political espionage and some campy humor is applied. Reminiscent of such films as Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon, this crime thriller is shot in black and white with some blue/green screen images. Able Danger is a great indie to watch.

Michael J. Burg as Axel, a Peter Lorre German agent type, was a very convincing villain. Tamara Knausz added her sex appeal as Thomas' assistant Friday. Supporting cast members Gregory Paul Martin, Frank Deal, Piper Kenny and Brandon Bales added great performances to round off a good movie.
