National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a must see movie. This hilarious family comedy includes Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis, and Johnny Galecki as the famous Griswold family. Christmas is started on a disappointing note for the Griswolds when the in-laws invite themselves over for the holiday. It’s the time of year when you are never alone and all types of characters in your family show up. We all know how it is.
The bickering, frustrations, general loudness, and in the end, laughter are all illustrated in this film. Clark played by Chase has the remarkably bad luck throughout all his comedic mishaps and the National Lampoon’s series just isn’t the same without him. He and the whole Griswold clan have simply immortalize this series. And that’s even with different sets of actors playing the children. To all the National Lampoon Vacation fans you know what I’m talking about. Randy Quaid should also get an honorable mention as cousin Eddie. Since his debut on National Lampoon’s Vacation he’s played that obnoxious redneck cousin that always steals the scene, and he doesn’t disappoint you in this film.
Over the top antics is what makes this movie famously funny. This film has been out since 1989 and I’ve watched it every year since. No surprise, I also own the DVD, what can I say, it’s a Christmas classic.
Watching this movie will give you plenty of laughs. I promise you that all of us can relate to at least one of the characters in this movie. If not, you can at least recount all those family gatherings you’ve experienced. National Lampoon’s Christmas vacation brings out the laughter in the hectic happenings around the season that some of us dread. Putting up twinkly lights all over the house with a ladder is somewhat scary and not fun at all.
There are brilliant touches everywhere. How can anyone whose seen the film forget that memorable scene with the squirrel in the Christmas tree? Most importantly the movie will make anybody crack up. Christmas Vacation will help you remember your own Christmas past or, at the very least, it will make you happy that your family isn’t like the Griswolds.
